Fifteen minutes to Morehead City and a mere twenty to the magnificent historic Beaufort, the town provides waterfront living and leisure. The town is close to the Croatan National Forest, the Newport River, and it has several quaint creeks which loop through the community lending people places to fish, picnic, and take in scenes of nature. Close to the most impressive Bogue Sound, Newport is home to Broad Creek and its many eateries and waterfront properties and boasts the Battle of Newport Barracks Memorial Park. This lovely town hosts events such as a holiday parade, painting classes, senior day, bingo, and games, making it a fine place to call home.
